The Seaboot Race
In this unusual event the participants, wearing seaboots, are required to run the length of Courthouse Street, round the lobster pot and back. Timed certificates are issued to all entrants. The event originated from an idea by Deeday White and was organised by High Street Traders.
The first Seaboot Race was held in 2002 and, as with the bike race, was born of a sad occurrence, when it was held to raise money to cover the costs for the funeral of Peter Trickett (the original organiser of the bike race) who died that year. The first staging was hugely successful and as well as covering the funeral costs, substantial donations were made to local charities.
