A crescent-shaped bastion

The Ladies Parlour

Excavated material from Conqueror's Ditch was deposited here to form a crescent-shaped bastion.  In the days of the 'good Norman peace' that followed the conquest, the bastions was used as a grandstand on tournament days. Champion knights would salute the ladies that sat in the stand, hence the name.
