The Chancel

The Chancel

This was roughly cruciform in shape and attracted pilgrims from all parts of the country.  It's thought that Becket once preached here. Both Henry III and his son Edward I claimed it as a Royal Free chapel which created an epic dispute with the Bishops of Chichester.
